» JDIC may also refer to Java Desktop Integration ComponentsWWWJDIC is an online Japanese dictionary based on the electronic dictionary of Australian academic Jim Breen. The downloadable dictionaries data files (EDICT) contain around one hundred and twenty thousand Japanese to English translations, as well as the readings of several hundred thousand Japanese names. There are also several specialized dictionaries covering topics such as lifes sciences, law, computing, engineering, etc.

WWWJDIC makes use of a highly modified version of the public domain Tanaka Corpus for examples of sentences using Japanese words. The sentence collection contains over one hundred and fifty thousand sentence pairs in Japanese and English.
   In addition to Japanese-English, the dictionary contains links to German, French, Russian and Swedish.
   The dictionary is freely updateable and copiable under its own licence arrangements.
   Several mirror sites of the original WWWJDIC also exist around the world.
